Serena Breining, MSSW, CAPSW, is the Applied Professional Development Coordinator for WCWPDS and delivers specialized training topics for CPS workers and supervisors statewide. Serena has professional experience in child welfare that includes: prevention, direct practice, clinical intervention, program development/implementation/management, policy analysis / development, community outreach, and instruction. She has been employed with The Parenting Place (2005), La Crosse County Human Services as an Initial Assessment worker in Child Protective Services (2006-2014), University of Wisconsin-School of Social Work (2010-2013 and 2017) and Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (2014-2018). Serena earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a graduate of The School of Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health. She is currently obtaining her clinical hours at The Rainbow Project, Inc. in Madison, WI.
